East 112th Street and Ave. E, Chicago, Illinois

Volunteers should meet John Pastirik, Eggers Grove Stewart, at the comfort station in Eggers Grove Forest Preserve to help pull invasive plants and cut brush.  Tools and gloves are provided.  Contact John Pastirik at (773) 991-0613 for more information.

Fall Colors Bike Tour

Come enjoy a leisurely bike ride on the Burnham Greenway through the East Side and the trails around Wolf Lake. There will be frequent stops to observe the trees of the region. Your guide will be John Pastirik, Calumet Ecological Park Association Tours Chairman. Helmets are recommended. This ride is for adults (minors only if accompanied by an adult). Bring your own water. Snacks will be provided. Please call to John at (773) 992-0613 or Judy at (773) 646-4773 by Wednesday, October 25th.

Burnham Greenway Tree Care and Clean-up

South 106th St. & Ave. D, Chicago

Volunteers are needed on Saturday, November 4, at 1 p.m. to help mulch trees and clean up along the greenway.  Park on the street, wear sturdy shoes, bring work gloves and dress for the weather.  For more information call John Pastirik (773) 991-0613, or Judy at (773) 646-4773. CALUMET REVISITED PROGRAM: 


A MONTHLY FORUM ON THE CALUMET REGION'S PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Monthly discussions, led by guest speakers, shed light on the region's rich human history and environmental treasures.  Practical suggestions for meeting the needs of region residents while honoring and preserving the natural beauty around us will be shared by participants.  Faculty, staff, students, and community members are welcome to the discussion.

Southeast Chicago Historical Society Museum

Regularly open on Thursdays, except Christmas,  New Year's Day, and Thanksgiving, the society's museum collections and exhibits focus on the history of Chicago's Southeast Side, including the neighborhoods of East Side, Hegewisch, South Chicago and South Deering.
