Events Ongoing & Recurring

This page features Events that occur according to regular schedules.  Thus, they may remain in place longer than the items on our basic "Events" page.

Our current featured exhibit is "Funkytown," new work by artist E. Charles Rolwing III.  This impressive collection of contemporary oil on canvas paintings is highlighted by a spectacular color palette and densely assembled figures and symbols which call loudly for interpretation.  This exhibit should be viewed and enjoyed by serious collectors and artists and those who might be casual art lovers.    Gallery hours are 11am til 5:30pm Tuesday through Saturday.  The show will run through April 26th.

Our Acoustic Jam nights fall on April 5, 12, 19 and 26, all Thursdays and all starting at 7pm.  $5 cover charge or $2 discount if you perform or bring a conribution to the Potluck table.

Sunday April 22, Rumba de la Region, 1PM, $5 cover charge.   Cuban Rumba is a drum ensemble style of music, created by multiple drummers playing individual rhythms, in a conversational arrangement. Join us in exploring these beautiful rhythms, and learn how to talk with one another, through the drum.   Appropriate instrumentation will be provided.  Experience is not necessary, but is welcome.

Saturday April 28, Art Doubleheader!  1pm til 3pm, the annual Prairie State College Photo Club Contest, exhibiting the work of club members which will be judged and a scholarship prize awarded to best of show.    5pm til 8pm, our monthly Jazz Jam with host Tom Matecki and his quartet presenting original and classic jazz numbers from an extensive songbook.  Guest artists are invited to perform with the host group after the mid-show intermission.  This April presentation will feature jazz vocalist and songwriter Kosi from New York City.  She has performed with acclaim at Paul Henry's several times in the past three years.   $5 cover.

We hope you can join us in April.   Regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11am til 5:30pm.  For further information, please call 219-678-5015.
